A Win On A Halladay

Hey everybody, Hope you all had a fun forth of July. I did, besides a near death experience with a Black Cat and a lighter, maybe I’m exaggerating a bit, but I think those thing need longer fuses. Anyway the Yankees had a fun day too.  Well Most of the Yankees did, Chien -Ming Wang gave up a home run in the sixth and then had to leave because he got hurt. Johnny Damon tied the game in the seventh inning with a 2 run blast off Roy Halladay. YAHOOOOOOO!!! Then came the bottom of the 12 where Jorge Posada got the game winning hit!

Jorge Posada 2.jpg
I’m not happy that we lost Chien – Ming, but I am not surprised ether. He’s been fragile throughout his career. I think its time for the Yankees to think TRADE DELINE: Its coming soon and I think we should get one more quality starter. We have Sabathia, Burnett, Peddite, Wang (injured), and sometimes Chamberlin. Now with Wang injured we need to get someone reliable, consistent, and who’s era is not over 20. Kinda like Curt Schilling…

Have a great day

Vote TEX!

Hello everyone

I have noticed I’ve been a little inconsistent lately, ok really inconstant. So I’m gonna do what I did in the very beginning of MITEOA13YO (MLB in the eyes of a 13 year old). I’m going back to the Yankees, back to my consistent post, and back to talking about baseball, yes real baseball not my baseball team. Although we won our last game yesterday 7-5. So with out further delay.
************************************************************************************************************
as you all know the all star game is coming up. one of the most exciting races is boston red sox
first basemen kevin youkilis and new york yankee first baseman mark teixeira. VOTE TEX everyone so we can have our new home run hitting, 25 wearing slugger in the all star game!!!!!

*****************************************************************************************************

The Yankees have made it 6 strait win with a 8 – 5 win over seattle.
Melkey Cabrara has been a pleasant surprise doing much better then his performance last year
I bet the yankees can catch up to the sox before the all star brake.

College World Series 2009 (1)

CWS – College World Series, a tournament held in Omaha, Nebraska that determines the college baseball champion. Also cause’s sweating, delusional thinking, yelling at the TV and the time of your life.

CWS logo.jpg

The college world series comes once a year to Omaha, Nebraska. Along with it comes 8 teams from around the country, some power houses that come every year. Others trying to restore a dynasties place. Yet some are special, these teams are 1st timers here. A special team made with just the right players to bring themselves to Omaha, for a chance of a crown so pure and special. Sure some of the players in the tournament are just using this as a stepping stone. Dustin Ackley was chosen 2nd overall in the MLB draft. Others will sign with a minor league team, but never make it to the big show. For some this is the last games of there baseball careers. All this put together in a town crazy about baseball equals one heck of 13 days.
Fresno State.jpg
For all you Boston Red Sox fans did you know that Jacoby Ellsbury in 2005 played college ball at Oregon State. They made it two Omaha, but Texas took the crown.  After 2005 the Beavers (oregon state) won the championship back to back in 2006 – 2007.

Jacoby Ellsbury - Oregon state.jpg

Also Brewers fans Ryan Braun played in the CWS with Miami in 2003, and 04
Lots of MLB players have played in the CWS, To see more go to College world series.com
But most of all the experience of it all was the best. The LSU fans are awesome they make the million mile trip up here to Omaha to see there Tigers play. Along with them comes there food! LSU fans will set up there grills right in front of Rosenblatt Stadium and give out some great food, FOR FREE! They make the best grilled peaches which I had never had before untill that game. And they make hamburgers, sausages, and all kinds of things. i hope LSU makes it every year
Grilled Peaches.jpg
Then there is Omaha’s love affair with the college world series. So much that we are taking good old Johnny Rosenblatt Stadium down, to build a new 124 Million dollar stadium. Omaha absolutely loves the CWS. We go out and spend all our christmas money on our favorite CWS teams and cheer our hearts out. For 13 days Omaha is the baseball capitol and we love it!
Road to Omaha.jpg
This year there are a new 8 teams (sort of LSU and North Carolina where here last year)

The 8 teams this year are
Arizona State
LSU
North Carolina
Virginia
Southern Mississippi
Arkansas
Cal State Fullerton
Texas
The baseball played here is awesome
Todays action is Cal State Fullerton vs Arkansas at 1:00 PM Central Time on ESPN
and  Virginia vs LSU 6:00 CT on ESPN.
I’ll be watching and I hope you do to!
Go ASU!!

The Royals

Hello everyone, I listened to your suggestions and I have decided to try out a Team and see how they feel. The team I picked is the Royals since they are the closest and I can see all there gameson TV. I hope this will work out.

mmmmmm twix….

In ROYALS news –  Yep this is new. I think that yesterdays game was great, I thought we would pull through, especially with Negro league Jerseys, and Gil Meche on the mound.
Royals Special Jerseys.jpg
The Royals Catcher Miguel Olivo tied the game with a solo shot to left, but the bull pen was not good enough and they let it slide 5 – 3. Wish we could of won, but it was a fun game to watch.
Today we have Grienke on the mound which is gooooood news. Watching the game now its the bottom of the second Royals up 2 – 1.

Have a great May 31 everyone

Teams

Hello everyone how are ya doing. If any of you have read Now I can die in Peace by Bill Simmons, your gonna now what I will be talking about. 1933060050.01.LZZZZZZZ.jpg

Yes Its a Red Sox book, but hey its baseball. Anyway in the beginning of the book Bill talks about how he thinks a sports fan should be. I broke mostly all the rules. Like only rooting for one team, whoops lets see in the last 12 months I have called…. 4 team as my favorite. He also says that unless your from New York you shouldn’t root for the Yankees and other teams. I think he put that in for band wagoners. So Figuring I should change for the better I Vowed to change and stick with one team. Only one. There are a couple problems though. I do have reputation at school as the biggest yankee fan, although I don’t agree with most of the stuff they do. Manly I think I have liked all the teams in the MLB at one time. Even sometimes i wished I could be a part of Red Sox nation. I want to be a fan of one team and one team only but I have not been able to find any connections to any of the teams. I don’t want to chose just any team, but one that fits me. I don’t think the Yankees or the Angels fit me. I really just want one team and to stick with them. I have been able to do that with all other sports except baseball. ( in the NBA I have been a Bucks fan forever, and in the NFL I’m a diehard Broncos fan) I don’t know why baseball is so hard I wish I could just choose one.
I was wondering if you could tell me how you all chose your teams. Thanks you

Schools out

Hey everybody I think you’ll be seeing more of me now that SCHOOLS OUT. Yes Im very excited. To top it off during my baseball game today I got a double, and an unassisted double play. Its not much but I was proud of it. In Baseball news these walk offs have been great, I could get used to them. Sorry I can’t write much now but I will get back to you as soon as I can.

Thanks
Johnny

The curse of the Bowling Alley

Sorry I have not been writing lately, been very busy. Any way here is the curse that a kid named Alex put on the Yankees.

We had a bowling party for our school. We where all having a lot of fun. I was also watching the first game of the “rivalry” on tv. Me and my friend Joey where pretty confident about our chances. 2 outs and Mo on the mound.
MarianoRivera.jpg
I could not have felt any more confident. Then Alex came, he said to me Jason Bay is going to hit a home run. It was late, I thought Alex was just delusional or something. I told him No..I mean No way Alex. Next pitch Jason HAD to hit a home run. Course I heard a lot about that. The Yanks didn’t help to much when they got swept. I Don’t believe in curses (unless they are against the red sox) but I don’t feel to good about this season.
Thanks
Johnny K

Nick Adenhart

Nick Adenhart pitched last night. He died the next morning. This boy was 22 years old. It hurts when any one dies but when someone so young dies with so much in front of him. Baseball didn’t lose a baseball player they lost a great young man.
